Meet the Guides
Your world class safari guides: are highly experienced and knowledgeable about the wildlife, flora and people of their country. They each spent two years in guide school with some doing a third year in wildlife management before their many years spent in the field. They all speak at least three languages.
Tim Geiss
Tim is the tour leader/owner and started Safari-Express in 1990. He has been in the travel industry since 1988 and started this company from his own desire to frequent Africa. He has experienced many magical moments and wishes to share these experiences with you!
Hassan ‘Mgonja’
Mgonja is from the Pare tribe of Tanzania which resides near Mt. Kilimanjaro. He began his career in 2003 and adds ecology, history and culture to his studies along with his advanced degree in Wildlife Management. Most recently, Mgonja was awarded the 2017/2018 Best Guide of the Year in Tanzania. His passion for safaris is infectious to all his groups.
Jabir ‘JB’ Olomi
JB was born and raised on the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the Chagga tribe – the largest tribe in Tanzania. He studied wildlife and tourism management before getting his degree in tourism management. He has been guiding since 2006 and has not lost the passion he has had for animals and nature since he was 6 years old.
Jacob Ounga
Jacob is from the Luo tribe that resides near Lake Victoria. Originally from Kisumu he has been a guide for over 30 years. Jacob speaks Swahili, Luo, Kamba, English, French and has a working knowledge of German.
Musa Mohamed
Musa is from Mombasa on the coast of Kenya. He has been a guide for over 30 years. When he began his career, guides were having to use hand signals to each other to describe what animal they had found.
Elisha Jeremia
Elisha is from Arusha near the slopes of Mt. Meru – the second highest mountain in Tanzania. He has been guiding since 2008.
Severin Shirima
Severin was born and raised on the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the Chagga tribe – the largest tribe in Tanzania. Now residing in Arusha, Severin has been a guide since 2011.
Denis Kimathi
Denis is from the Mt. Kenya area known as Embu. He has been a guide since 2012.

Alex Sempele
Alex is from Narok which is near the Masai Mara. He has been a guide since 2005.
