Our most popular combined safaris includes some of the best selling adventures in Kenya and Tanzania. Travel throughout is by road with border formalities at Namanga. Both itineraries visit the same great parks and only vary in style of accommodation. Each program is also packed with game viewing from a shared 4×4 vehicle in Kenya and Tanzania. Upon return to Nairobi, the group is treated to a farewell dinner before the transfer to the late departing flight or local hotel for overnight. With four weekly departures between the two itineraries, you are bound to find a date that meets your travel plans.

Day 1 Arrival in Nairobi
Airport Meet and Greet. Transfer to your hotel for overnight.
Day 2 Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve
Leaving Nairobi after breakfast, you’ll travel towards Kenya’s fertile highlands and head down the Rift Escarpment on a road built by Italian prisoners of war during World War II. Look for the charming chapel they built at the foot of the escarpment. You’ll pass the impressive Longonot earth satellite station as you head across the Valley to Narok, and then travel across acres of wheat and barley, before you reach the Masai Mara and your lodge in time for lunch. There will be an afternoon game drive.

Day 3 Masai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast, clients will depart for a visit to a Masai village and a morning game drive, returning to the lodge for lunch and perhaps a siesta before setting off for an afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge as the sunsets. Overnight at your lodge. (BLD)
Day 4 Masai Mara Game Reserve – Lake Nakuru NP
Leaving the Masai Mara after breakfast, you’ll travel across the ‘breadbasket’ of Kenya, where acres of wheat and barley litter the landscape as you head north to Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Maasailand. Now travel across the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley, keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle as you head up the Mau Escarpment, before arriving at Lake Nakuru. The waters here are often colored shimmering flamingo pink, from thousands of the beautiful birds lining its shores. After lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge, depart for an afternoon game drive in Nakuru National Park before continuing to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Lake Nakuru NP – Amboseli NP
After an early breakfast continue to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride. Later, leaving the Rift Valley behind, proceed to Nairobi, collect a picnic lunch and then head south towards Amboseli arriving at your lodge by late afternoon. Then proceed with afternoon game drive in the park enroute to the Amboseli arriving in the evening.

Day 6 Amboseli National Park
Morning and afternoon game drives in Amboseli, returning to the lodge as the sun sets.

Day 7 Amboseli NP – Namanga – Lake Manyara NP
Following an early breakfast, you’ll catch your last views of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as you depart Amboseli viewing game en route to the border of the park. From here turn west to the colorful border town of Namanga, where you will find some unique Maasai beadwork. At Namanga you will complete border formalities before continuing into Tanzania. Continue to Arusha in Tanzanian vehicle. Lunch. Drive to Lake Manyara Serena Lodge arriving for dinner. (BLD)
Day 8 Lake Manyara NP – Serengeti NP
Morning game drive in Lake Manyara NP. After lunch proceed into the great Serengeti – Swahili for endless plains. Continue on to your lodge with game viewing en-route. (BLD)
Day 9 Serengeti National Park
Optional sunrise balloon safari. Full day of game drives in this fantastic animal kingdom. At 5600 square miles the Serengeti is EIGHT times larger than the northern part of this eco-system in Kenya – the famous Masai Mara. Overnight again at your Serengeti lodge. (BLD)
Day 10 Serengeti NP – Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area
After breakfast depart to the Eighth Natural Wonder of the World – Ngorongoro Crater (a caldera or collapsed volcano). You will make an en-route stop at the Olduvai Gorge – ‘cradle of mankind’. There is a small museum here at Olduvai, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, that is surprisingly good. You will have a picnic lunch here before continuing on to your Ngorongoro lodge located on the the rim of the crater. (BLD)
Day 11 Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area
Entire day will be spent 2000 feet down on the floor of this fabulous crater which is teeming with wildlife. This is one of the best places to see black rhinos. The crater elephants also have some of the largest tusks in all of Africa. Picnic lunch at one of the hippo pools. Late afternoon return to the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge for overnight. (BLD)
Day 12 Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area – Tarangire NP
After breakfast proceed down into the Rift Valley and on into Tarangire National Park. Game drive en-route to your lodge. Afternoon game drive through the giant baobab trees. (BLD)
Day 13 Tarangire NP – Arusha – Nairobi
Early morning departure for the drive back to Arusha. Take your lunch in Arusha before continuing north to Namanga and on into Nairobi. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. (BLD)
Day 14 Nairobi to Departure
A day room is provided for you until your evening departure for JKIA and your journey home. (BL)
